Matthew Potts flew his 89 inch Yak on a number of occasions, complete with smoke. Matthews flying is always breath taking and even with a strong cross wind, Matthew did not disappoint. At one point matthew was hovering the plane about 4ft of the ground while continually rolling, the wingtips only just clearing the ground.

Two young modellers from the LetterKenny club flew their heli's and put on a beautiful 3D display. What made this different from every other 3D flight I have seen was the way they flew the moves smoothly and slower than I thought possible. I can't understand how the heli did not fall out of the sky as it passed through knife edge on another slow aileron roll. What makes this even more impressive is the two young pilots have only been flying for just over a year.
As usual the members of UMAC put on a BBQ and had a selection of sandwitches, deserts and hot drinks available to all. Given the less than inviting flying conditions these goddies were a welcome distraction, and very tasty too.
This was the first event I had attended at the new flying site located on the opposite side of the road from the clubs previous field. There is a large tarmac area giving excellent facilities and this permitted the event, crosswind and all, to proceed. We also witnessed a flying site first. Stephen Brown was the first person to fly a turbine power model from this new site and UMAC marked the occasion by presenting Stephen with a silver cup. Now, if only I had brought the Elan, ah well.

All and all I had a good time and very much enjoyed meeting old friends, UMAC being my original club. Needless to say a lot more talking took place than flying. I did take the electric Vanquish out to fly at one point but discovered I had no throttle, really strange as the model had flown on both Saturday and Sunday with no problems. As such I didn't get to fly at all which was a real disappointment for me, I wanted to fly at the new site and I always like the opportunity to go back and fly at UMAC.
Due to the wind I didn't get my camera out of the car but I did manage to get a loan of John Pearsons and took a few snaps of Miss America, and John provided the rest. Thanks John.
All in all I think the event went very well and feel a big WELL DONE to UMAC is called for.
